SS316
SS316 (also referenced as SUS316 / UNS S31600 / 1.4401) contains molybdenum, which significantly improves its resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion compared with SS304. This makes it ideal for use in marine environments, chemical processing, and food/pharma equipment.
Typical Applications
SS316 is used where corrosion resistance is critical:
- Marine & shipbuilding fittings, vessels, hardware.
- Chemical processing equipment — tanks, valves, piping.
- Food & beverage industry — hygienic surfaces and storage.
- Pharmaceutical & healthcare equipment and implants due to hygiene and non‑reactivity.
- Architectural & structural components exposed to harsh environments.
